Keresa Plantations and Mill's first steps towards sustainability was realized with the commitment of their senior management to be a member of the Roundtable for Sustainable palm Oil (RSPO). RSPO approved the company's membership on 03 June 2009. This marks an important landmark for our company and sets a new vision for Keresa to be a responsible producer of crude palm oil. |

Keresa has taken the first step in RSPO implementation in August 2008 by conducting a full independent review of our current operations against the RSPO Principles & Criteria. No land conflicts exist with local communities and the plantation was established from secondary jungle under a former rattan plantation. Our work was recognised to meet the RSPO standards by independent auditors in October 2010 and today our certification scope includes our CPO Mill, Keresa Mill, and the supply base from both our own plantations and the neighboring indigenous smallholders. Our ambition is to demonstrate that our journey towards more responsible practices will provide a better environment for our people to work and live in.
Progress
Since December 2009, some of our biggest changes have been made with the development of new policies that will help us realize our goals towards sustainability. This has been our first step and the challenge now is to be able to make these policies implementable. The new policies we have introduced, or revised, include:
1. Minimum age Policy (December 2009)
2. Equal rights Policy (December 2009)
3. Policy for the Prevention of Sexual Harassment and Domestic Violence in the Workplace (December 2009)
4. Freedom of Association (December 2009)
5. Grievance Procedures & Policy (December 2009)
6. Health & Safety Policy (January 2010)
7. Environmental Policy (Draft - January 2010)
Copies of these policies will be made available upon request within 3-5 days. Please email our representative, the
